Tara Reade: Legacy of Lies ( Part One Background)

Authors: Hedgehog200 and friends.

Tara Reade AKA Alexandra Tara McCabe, Tara Reade Moulton, Alexandra Reade among other aliases has a long history. There is a legacy of lies that she tells regarding her past. Then there is the unvarnished truth regarding this woman who cons, scams and steals from people. Tara Reade has been a flimflammer almost her entire adult life.Where to start with this huge volume of information is the dilemna we have to consider. Another consideration was what to put in and what to leave out for the potential well being of people who know her. We have decided to post all of the material we have obtained in what will be a three part account.

So let's begin at the beginning. Tara Reade was born Tara Reade Moulton on February 26, 1964. Her father was Robert Moulton and her stepmother Sally Ann Moulton. Her mother's name is Jeanette Altimus.

Her father's obituary becomes important because it is one of the occurrences where Ms. Reade is not quite truthful. She exaggerates the facts. In a story from Medium which she authored please see the following.

Here she states her father was a powerful defense contractor which is not the truth. He was a journalist. He then did public relations management for Honeywell which is a very powerful defense contractor. Seems like a small point but it is part of what becomes a long pattern of deceptions both small and large. It is important in the greater reflection of Ms. Reade's behavior.  This is also the first person she accuses of abuse/harassment that we located.

The next individual she accuses is her ex. This individual whom she referred to as "Tate" worked for 2 elected officials from the Dakotas. He then started a business which has been highly successful and remains so to this day. This is the second person she has accused of abuse. In 1998 Reade was given a new Social Security number in the ruling of a judge from Washington State. That file is sealed so we can tell you a little but more is forthcoming. We have located the individual she accused and contacted them to see if they wish to tell their side of the story. We have received more information since that time.

Some of the details that we do know are that the individual lives not all that far from Ms. Reade and has for a number of years. That person is was married/is divorced, owns a home and operates a highly successful business. What is interesting however is that the individual started his business in 1995 and it became successful very quickly. Right after success was apparent Tara Reade filed abuse charges against this person Here is the article she wrote. https://digitalcommons.law.seattleu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?referer=&httpsredir=1&article=1065&context=thelawyer There are also excerpts concerning their relationship.

They resided together at two addresses and possibly a third. One address destroys a declaration that will be included in Part II of this series of articles. As stated they live not far from one another. For years though Reade is not her legal name, she was in a popular radio show, did numerous articles on animal shelters, etc. Some with her picture. What happened to this life of fear and hiding she was supposedly leading? He could easily have heard her, seen her, located her.  We are unsure of what the truth is concerning anything she has told a court of law. Part II will hold the rest of the verifying information we have concerning this person and how it affects Reade's story. Why? Because we have evidence that she has lied in at least one legal proceeding.

Tara Reade has accused men and women alike of abuse/harassment. Next we have a document showing that she accused a woman named Krystal Rojas of harassment/workplace violence. There is a court record of the situation. Someone on Twitter said that Krystal Rojas' is a sad story and they are right. How she came to be accused of workplace violence/harassment by Ms. Reade is a question the file gives no answer to. But this is another occurrence of  Reade accusing others of violence towards her. This request for a restraining order was vacated.

Next we have a case which some people believe was legitimate and might be so. But it certainly shows Reade's litigious nature. Several woman from the YWCA accused their supervisors of harassment. One of them was Reade. She stated that her African American supervisor engaged in reverse discrimination and called her 'too white'. There were a couple of stories written regarding the matter. Here are two.

She has also accused her former partner on the Soul Vibes Show Frankie Knight whose real name is Edward Franklin Walker of abusing her. He had an assault complaint against him during the time they lived together but the plaintiff is not listed. There is quite a long case file. If it should go to the search mechanism instead of the case information just enter the name or the case number from the SS below.

The last person we know of that Tara Reade has accused of abuse/assault/harassment is Joe Biden. We will dedicate an entire article to her accusations against him and why we believe they are not credible.

Ms. Reade has set up or had others set up numerous GoFundMe pages seeking money. Most have been unsuccessful fundraising attempts. This is not the most important issue by a long shot but it is part of a pattern.

4.

.

Reade has repeatedly put up GoFundMe Pages herself and also had others do so for her. The last one above is her daughter just before she fled when the cases of creditors were decided against her in court. She cheated a friend out of money and then had her daughter raise money for her in what was a scam. Carson Marshall who set up the Get Rebecca to safety (Rebecca is Reade) is a friend of Reade's family. Here he is on her brother's Facebook timeline. Michaela McCabe is Gabriela Michaela McCabe Reade's daughter. That's her on her uncle's timeline in the second SS.

Reade tried to use the excuse that these fundraisers aren't her. But only one might not be. The one that says Tara Reade's legal fees is dubious. Why would her brother ask for money for her horse? Why would Carson Marshall and Gabriela McCabe tell a story that is definitely Reade's? She is the beneficiary on more than one of these fundraisers. This is all the signs of a scammer, someone out to make money off the goodhearted charity of others.

As many cases as Tara Reade has brought against other people, many have also been brought against her. Mostly creditors seeking the money she owes them.

First is her one of her college loans for Southwestern Law School.

Then come two banks cases from the same financial institution Synchrony Bank.

https://portal.santacruzcourt.org/Portal/Home/WorkspaceMode?p=0  Both of these were loans which she defaulted on and were then included in her bankruptcy filings.

Next is one which leads into what could potentially be bankruptcy fraud. She sent the following emails to her landlord Lasjon Marie Blacksher.

There are several points here from the letter which are important. 1.The email portion from Reade states clearly that there is no debt but medical and educational. 2. She is seeking money from a program (Community Action Board) to pay her rent and that in order to receive those funds she CAN NOT have received an eviction action from Blacksher. The latter is the opposite of the truth and she lied to Blacksher. You need to have an eviction notice to receive the funds. Reade just wanted the eviction action dropped. This landlord was included in Reade's bankruptcy filing a short time later. Along with 7 pages of liabilities that she told Blacksher she did not have. If she received CAB money to pay rent exactly what did she do with it? There are questions that require answers.

https://cabinc.org/2017/04/21/rap/ Here are the rest of the court files from Blacksher. She is one defendant among several. Her co debtor in this matter is Edward Walker.

https://portal.santacruzcourt.org/Portal/Home/WorkspaceMode?p=0

Now we arrive at Tara Reade's bankruptcy filing which was heard in 2012.

In the above email to Lasjon Blacksher Tara Reade stated that she had no liabilities beyond medical bills and educational loans. But to the bankruptcy court she submitted 7 pages of debts. At least two appear to be fraudulent and potentially others. We will not say here which two but the information has been turned over to the appropriate court officers in the jurisdiction the case was heard in for review. Here are those documents.

Reade told Blacksher just a few months before her case was heard that she had no debts such as these. So again where did they all come from? How many are real? How many are fake? Numerous cell phone companies, veterinarians who helped her pets, Grove Market, the car loan from the vehicle she asked someone to hide for her. Lasjon Blacksher whom she lied to. Pizza restaurants, food markets the list is very long of the people she cheated.

The worst we know of at present is her friend from the Pregnant Mare Rescue named Lynn. We are very sorry for what happened to her at the hands of a scammer and a con artist like Reade. It happens far more than people realize. We hope we understand this story correctly. This is what she did to her friend. Reade adopted a horse named Charm from the Pregnant Mare Rescue. She also volunteered there for a time. When Charm needed medical care for it's teeth Reade contacted the Steinbeck County Equine Clinic Inc. to treat the horse at the place it was being boarded. She then had Charm's medical bills sent to the Pregnant Mare Rescue. To the friend who had helped her when she needed it.  She stole from them. See the email she sent to Betty Johnson below where she admits to it in a rage.

Here she actually threatens journalist Joan Walsh.
In this last SS you can see how Reade manipulates. This one should have gone first perhaps. Here she is asking Lynn for money. The SS posted here are a study in contrasts. The conning below to get what she wants. Then the threats and vituperativeness  above when the truth about her  actions and life are exposed.

Alexandra McCabe AKA Tara Reade always has an excuse to mitigate her lies, scams, cons and rackets she plays daily. Here is her excuse for said actions.

Tara Reade (Alexandra McCabe)  uses that she is poor, a survivor of domestic violence and a single mother who put herself through college as an excuse for everything she's done. It appears to us she didn't put herself through school, banks did and she did not pay them. She owned pets but did not care for them herself she manipulated a friend into doing so. Then for the rest of the vets on her bankruptcy pages she did not pay them. She was a single mother caring for a young daughter who owed restaurants, housing, food markets and she did not pay them. We all know single mothers. Do they all lie, cheat and steal? Con people? We think not. Most in fact are honest, hardworking women looking to do the best that they can in life. To rise above their circumstances with honor and dignity. Not by swindling, defrauding and grifting money from their friends, neighbors, landlords, local pizza places and food stores.

But Tara Reade is not those women. She is a con artist whose accounts concerning any subject can not be believed. Ms. Reade should be given no credence in anything she claims. What is revealed here is a life long pattern of dishonest, potentially illegal activity. Still, there is some left out and more yet to come, This is only the beginning of Tara Reade's story. Next we will directly address her false accusations against VP Joe Biden. There are many revelations yet to divulge. To be continued.....

**This will be a three part series of articles. This first one is background, The second part will directly address the false accusations against VP Biden with all inconsistencies and documents posted. Part Three will be an expose on the reporters involved in pushing this story and the truth concerning their motivations.

Tara Reade has a YouTube channel, Nyet Productions, in which she posted a video, "Russian agent or American hero? An interview with Alexandra Tara Reade", since deleted.

http://www.wendydale.net/

>>> "When my friend Alexandra Tara Reade came out in the news with allegations that she had been touched inappropriately when she worked as a senate aide for Joe Biden, her life suddenly went to hell. Not only did she get death threats, rumors were spread that she was a Russian agent! Out of frustration and fury, we worked up this humorous video together to combat the attack, showing the aburdity of the rumors. If you'd help to spread the video, it would really help out a dear friend of mine who is dealing with so much undeserved BS!" <<<

Has Wendy Dale spoken out about the latest allegations? As a friend of Reade and a partner in the production of the video, it would seem odd if Reade never told her about her latest allegations against Biden, yet as far as I can tell beyond posting the video on her home page some months back she has made no further statements in support of Reade.

Since Part 1 is already "DA BOMB!" I can't wait for parts 2 and 3. You've clearly spent a lot of time on this story. Excellent research.

Someone check out 491 Tahiti St Morro Bay CA 93442
This isn't an apartment complex and it shows Tara & Lynn Lacasse lived her. Lynn the 'new discovery' that proves...
Bernie Bro media is the worst.
Were they roommates versus neighbors ?
Lynn Lacasse isn't taking any calls.
I WONDER WHY NOT ?

Thank you for doing this research. Please consider posting this on Twitter so more people can share your thorough research because FOX NEWS and other right-wing media outlets are using her story to help the worst president in history try to scam and fleece America and world for four more years.

Please explain: you assert that her father was NOT a defense contractor, that he was a journalist. But the obit you presented seems to suggest that he started his life in journalism, but became an engineer for Honeywell, which is a defense contractor, I believe.

Lynda Lacasse shows up at 493 Tahiti St, not 491. So...next door neighbors.

Thank you for researching all of this. Please please please create a Twitter account. It's easier to share that way. We need to make sure all this gets shared because The MAGAats, Fox News & the Berners are gleefully sharing her story before any research at all.

Thank you for doing this!!! Just a thought ... the dark background is hard to read and makes your hard work look less professional. You are doing a great service. This had to have been a lot of work and taken a lot of time to produce but you are doing your country a great service. Thanks again.

So...she raises money for Frankie Knight (along with herself) but also accused him of abusing her? What's the time frame there? Has anyone talked to him?

I'm wondering how you do your research and is there a way to link to original documents? I found something in one of the Medium articles that would be interesting to research, she says she had a brother that died right before going to work for Biden. It's obviously not her blood brother, does she have a step brother or half brother that died? In another article, she says she had the support of her mother, brothers and cousins. What about her sister Dianne, she's never mentioned anywhere, are they not in touch. I am also wondering, if the book her father wrote is the same story, is there a link to show that? The book on Amazon has little info and no reviews.

One of the core elements of Reade's allegation, without which the story falls apart, is that she was not wearing hose on the date of the alleged incident because it was unusually hot.

Looking at the Senate work dates for the months in the report (March 1 - May 31), there were no dates that could plausibly have fit that description.

I have since read that she is claiming that the incident happened in spring or summer, which might suggest that she figured out that her police report dates wouldn't work if somebody dug into her story. Has she in fact now expanded the dates upon which she's claiming that the incident allegedly occurred from the dates she provided to the police?

One way or another, an enterprising individual could examine morning temperatures on every day she could plausibly have been taking a gym bag to Biden in order to narrow down possible dates, and from that it might be possible to further narrow down the list from records of Biden's activities on those dates -- thereby determining if Biden would have been around to accept a gym bag, or could plausibly have been planning to go to the gym given his schedule.

This is a great compilation.

I saw that she was caught editing her Medium essays, which track changes like a wiki.

Do you have the info about her father's novel?

This is great stuff. But the news cycle on this will die down by next week due to MSM (msnbc, nyt) just brushing it under the rug with their own version of why Tara Reade (McCabe, always left out) is not credible (no documentation of charges on file), ignoring her 4 corroborators (mom call-in, brother with story change, neighbor, coworker) and her odd history here. Ideally Part II by the Sunday Fox thing with TRM. Good luck and thank you, retired Boston woman.

It's interesting that Tara Reade just deleted her website praising Putin!!
Here is a copy of what she wrote:
Tara Reade is a Bernie/Russian troll, she comes out right after Bernie Sanders suspends his campaign to tell her story against the presumptive nominee Biden.   What is interesting is she switched to Bernie’s camp, then did an about face about Russia while glowingly complementing Putin at around the same time it was discovered that Russia was willing to help Bernie’s campaign!!!!!!!
By: Alexandra Tara Reade Nov 27, 2018 (a redacted version of her complete article):

"Why would a liberal democrat support Vladimir Putin? Maybe it is because I believe he has saved the world from a large conflict on more than one occasion. Maybe it is because he speaks reasonably, with emotional intelligence at diplomatic meetings. Maybe it is because I worked in the government and came to know the American international agenda.
I worked for the Congress, then the Senate and the California State Senate. I also worked as a political operative for a congressional race and key judge race. Through my lens, President Putin brought a chaotic and failed nation to become a vibrant, creative, economic force within a decade. I don’t care what your politics; just admit that his sheer, calculated vision and willful energy brought Russia back to be a world power. He is very good to women, holds them in high regard. There have been many American administration changes; President Putin has tried again and again to keep diplomatic ties strong. I am sure, Putin has experienced political whiplash with the mercurial American diplomatic meetings. But then he is against an American machine that is more than one politician; it is an American political landmine full of traps, set up before he even came to power. The agenda was clear, concise and evident when I worked in Washington DC, keep the Russians talking but bring their nation down and no world seat for them at the table. Politics has always been a blood sport.Putin’s genius is his judo ability to conserve his own energy and let the opponents flail, using up their energy, while he gains position. Putin has a higher approval rating in America then the American President, particularly with women. Putin has an alluring combination of strength with gentleness. His sensuous image projects his love for life, the embodiment of grace while facing adversity. It is evident that he loves his country, his people and his job. Although his job may seem like in the words of writer, Elizabeth Gilbert on genius, “ trying to swallow the sun.” This is a whole lot to deal with for one mere mortal… President Putin’s obvious reverence for women, children and animals, and his ability with sports is intoxicating to American women. President Putin has taken his nation and his people towards new horizons of developing prosperity with education, science, technology and innovation. While in America, news of more jobs lost, punishing tariffs and ignorant, environmental policies abound. Sanctions mount and scandals alight the media. Besides,  Putin does not need America anymore, and neither does Russia."

I remember from the New York Times story:
"Two former interns who worked with her said they never heard her describe any inappropriate conduct by Mr. Biden or saw her directly interact with him in any capacity but recalled that she abruptly stopped supervising them in April, before the end of their internship."
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/12/us/politics/joe-biden-tara-reade-sexual-assault-complaint.html?searchResultPosition=7

So doesn't that limit the end range of the window in which this assault could have taken place to the date in April when Reade's supervision of interns was ended? Supposedly removing this duty was retaliation for her complaint about how she was treated. She has implied she complained about being asked to serve cocktails, and being asked to dress in a less sexy manner. She says she was afraid to speak up about the assault. If you push the date of the assault past April, you are saying it took place AFTER the office had begun freezing her out of her job. And also AFTER she had made her initial, vague complaint. It sure doesn't make sense that the staff would send her on a personal errand to take Biden's gym bag to him in some unspecified hall (how was she supposed to find him in a deserted "hall" anyway?) when they were in the process of getting rid of her because she complained of disrespect. But did she actually ever did complain, or was she just eased out for not being very competent?

Just realized something - in a way, Reade reminds me of rapists who are also burglars. During my training to be a sex crime victim advocate, I was struck by some of these men who could admit that they were burglars but not that they used burglary as the way to access women they’d assault. They couldn’t admit they were rapists. Similarly Reade strikes me as a woman who, if pushed, might admit that being a professional victim is her schtick, but she can’t admit that she uses her professional victim shtick to be a con artist. She’s not a very successful one but there are a lot of them like her - mostly small time, petty, with some good attributes. She displays those good attributes but they’re actually outweighed by her inner damage and selfishness. Makes me wonder what her daughter is like.

So many questions:

To clarify, the bankruptcy filing case was from Oct. 10, 2012 to Jan. 22, 2013, and during that period Tara wrote the letter to the landlady. If Tara [Alexandra? Moulton?] Reade [McCabe?] was not married to the man, Edward Walker, listed as co-debtor (?), whom she said had the stroke when she was asking for a hold on her rental eviction, whose medical bills was she claiming as her own in her bankruptcy filing? They totaled $33,021.00 in the total amount of claims.

Her history is hard to follow with all the names, jobs, claims of abuse, court filings, & changing stories. Has she only been married once?

One last question: You list a lawsuit by a college. So did she actually get a "J.D"? Because colleges used to withhold your degree until your bill was paid in full, including even book fees, student fees, parking tickets, anything you owed. How could she have gotten a loan to pay that suit off with her credit history, which she even mentions in the stop-eviction plea. Perhaps it was a personal loan or gift? She listed $298,014.34 in student loans in her bankruptcy filing.

Great job & thank you. The comments are also interesting.

I'm assuming that Part Two will be found here at this page, which I have bookmarked. I wouldn't vote for Biden in any case, and I didn't need Tara Reade to make-up-my-mind about that, but I feel that her story (and its evolving history) is too sketchy for me to automatically believe her. Can't wait to see how this whole story plays out. I hope your research and findings hold-up to rigorous scrutiny, otherwise it will be dismissed as fabricated, if someone finds even a bit of inconsistency. Thanks for your effort though.

What credible accuser is going to signal their intentions in this way:

Ryan Grim, March 3 tweet: "A head-to-head Biden v Sanders contest will force voters to take a close look at Biden again. That went very badly for him last time."

Reade responded with this tweet on the same day: "Yup. Timing... wait for it....tic toc"

Another point I find troubling: while Biden voted against confirming Clarence Thomas to SCOTUS in 1991, he was the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman of the infamously bitter, very public confirmation hearings that ring in our ears to this day. Every woman in America who had ever had to put up with sexual harassment & discrimination on the job was furious at the blatant sexism openly flaunted by the Senate against Prof. Hill. (Me, too.) Every Congressperson heard about it, loudly. Biden is still criticized for his part to this day, as well, so that's a burn he surely felt.

Yet we're asked to believe that Biden was so aggressively tone deaf that some 2 years later he sexually assaulted an employee in an open hallway of the Capitol? I know sexual assault can be brutally bold and unimaginable, but this is a point worth pondering. How could Biden know Reade wouldn't end his career and get him locked up pronto, not to mention sue him into poverty?

Reade has a troubled history. Financial issues seem to be at the heart of much of it. She is already threatening to sue various people for challenging her accusations. Is she making money from her obviously political & self-acclaimed timing, considering the endless cash-flow of political dark money available in the back-rooms of Trumpian dirty deals?

With all the other dubious aspects of her accusations, with changing stories & claims, it is on her to prove her case. She has a J.D., allegedly, so she should well know she must bring evidence, even if she believes the "Me, Too" movement will give her a stacked deck for her flip-flop on Biden & America.

KitTraverse said...

It puzzles me that she doesn't have a clear political motivation; she says she's going to vote for Biden. Her validators say the same. Her ideology is to the left, but otherwise unformed, as if it's dependent on who she's associating with. Yes, she's a pity grifter, but my read is that it's at least as dependent on validation as it is on what would be the best way to score a buck.

When she came out with that dozen or so women a year ago to complain about Joe's handsiness, none of them, including Reade, mentioned sexual assault at the time. After having decades to come to terms with the alleged assault, why not bring it up then? Obviously people are speculating about a calculated political hit, timed to do the most damage, but why? Why help Trump?

It seems to me that what she's most looking for is affirmation. When America decided to forgive Joe for being so tactile, she didn't get the affirmation jolt she was looking for.

So she upped the dosage . This feels very BPD to me ...

An eyebrow raiser not mentioned here or in Clifford MacArthur's piece is the account mentioned in the book Loss by Reade's father Bob Moulton, referred to as a "memoir" (i.e., non-fiction). Moulton describes a sexual encounter that is strikingly similar to his daughter's claim of Biden's assault:

"[H]e put his hands up her skirt grabbed her buttocks slid his hands under her panties grabbed her cheeks and rammed his fingers into her."

The character goes on on the next page to disparagingly sexualize his teenage daughter:

"Kate'll be just like her mother. Only 15 and she's got tits already. Lipstick fingernail polish. But at least she'll make money. Young whores make big money."  [All punctuation the author's].

Tara Reade states in a Medium article "Powerful Men and the Women They Choose to Destroy,"  "The first powerful man who abused me physically and emotionally was my father." (Though she then goes on to lie in the next sentence about her father's occupation, so we don't know from this whether the abuse claim is truthful either.).

Note that this screen cap offered online from an e-book shows this as being pages 18-19 of Loss, whereas the Google Books version of Loss shows pages 19-25 being not available  for preview. Differently paginated versions?

My go-to theory (and I have no training in psychology, just a hobbyist) is Borderline Personality Disorder.

The idealization / devaluation of both Biden and Putin, the splitting of her friends and political allies against Biden (to affirm her delusions), the bottomless need for attention (including negative attention) and affirmation (even of it ultimately leads to repudiation) are right out of the DSM-V description of the disorder.

BPDs, like the closely-related N (narcissistic) PDs, tend to be pathological liars who believe their own delusions.

I've just read this article by Tara Reade at https://medium.com/@AlexandraTaraReade/powerful-men-and-the-women-they-choose-to-destroy-2f471fa1b2b2
Three times in this article she accuses her father of "physical" abuse. Never does she specify what this physical abuse was. At the same time she says "I did not ever even live with my father or see him for years at a time." This I totally believe, based on publicly available information. And in my opinion, I agree with her that this alone constitutes emotional abuse. However, does anyone else think that her book--soon to be bid on by a publisher I'm sure--will feature sexual abuse by her father? Revealed for the first time because she's finally had enough time to process it? I'm just predicting here, of course. Unfortunately I think such a revelation could possibly be true. But there will be no way to prove or disprove the accusation. I worry that Joe Biden is standing in for her father as a target for accusations, true or untrue.

As best as I can tell, the alleged assault occurred either in late May or early June. In the Katie Halper interview, Tara Reade says this:
Katie: So this was after the assault that happened.
Tara: Yeah. Those are the last times I ever really interacted because they put me in a windowless office. I didn’t have the one with a window anymore. And I was cut off from staff. I was not supervising the interns anymore. Literally, my job was to show up and just look for another job. I wasn’t allowed to go to legislative hearings, nothing. So the chronology was that I was then looking for a job. And in June I was volunteering for the RFK Memorial, the 25th anniversary. I did the VIP tent and I was talking to a person in Kennedy’s office who was trying to help me backdoor, to get [Biden’s office] to stop what they were doing. And anyway, technically I think my Senate record goes until August, but I remember leaving before then. I didn’t have a job. I couldn’t get a job.“

Robert F. Kennedy's 25 Memorial occurred on June 6, 1993. Therefore, according to Reade, the alleged assault occurred shortly before that event and she was then put in a windowless office and spent that time looking for another job.

In the 2009 article about abuse, Tara Reade recounts that her boyfriend “Tate” would not undergo an FBI background check needed to attend RFK’s memorial. There is no indication in the 2009 article that she was “shattered”.

She says that she was unable to find a job in the Halper interview. In the 2009 article, she says “ Soon I received an offer to work on a Governor’s race in California and I almost accepted. Tate kept me up that night, pleading with me to go with him while he managed the Congressman’s campaign. I agreed and we moved to the frozen tundra of the Midwest.”

BTW, in the Halper interview, Reade describes a rebuffed sexual advance not a sexual assault. And according to Reade's statement, the alleged sexual harassment was from the staffers, not Biden.

Thank you for your excellent reporting. A very relevant context is that the very powerful Senator Bob Packwood was under investigation for various sexual improprieties beginning in November 1992 when there was an article in the Washington Post. This investigation went on for three years and Senator Packwood eventually resigned. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Packwood
It would have been incredibly stupid for Biden to assault a staffer while this was going on.
Another puzzle is why a powerful Senator like Joe Biden would have an urge to forcibly stick his fingers in a woman’s vagina who he “thought you liked me.” Seems to me if he thought she liked him, he wouldn’t take that approach to an affair. Then she says that he said, “You’re nothing to me.” Totally out of character.

Anonymous said...

Re assaulting someone in broad daylight, during business hours, in a crowded building with constant foot traffic - wouldn’t Biden be worried about getting caught on camera or seen by someone nearby it that she’s scream or struggle and draw attention to them? Why was he in the basement - are meeting rooms or offices there? Was he coming in from the subway? Was he headed to the gym in that building or elsewhere?

>>> I've collected weather data here and I'm beginning to match up dates with Biden's whereabouts. <<<

Something to keep in mind is that even when you see the high temperature for the day, you could have had a chilly morning. If it's 70 degrees or less when you head out to work, you're probably not thinking, "It's gonna be a scorcher, I'll leave my stockings at home". And if it reaches 80+ degrees at 2 PM, the morning weather was probably considerably cooler. So identifying the hot days is a starting point, but it should be possible to narrow dates based upon the alleged assault supposedly happening in the morning.

>>> That would lend great credibility to this piece. <<<

With a piece like this, all you need to do is look at the facts. If the facts can be independently confirmed, then the post is credible. If they're not, it's not, and it wouldn't matter if the post were authored by the Pope.

>>> As best as I can tell, the alleged assault occurred either in late May or early June. <<<

In her police report, she places the date between March 1 and May 31. Of course it makes sense to look at early June as well (you make a good point about the outer bound), because her pattern suggests that she will change the 'facts' when confronted with problems with her narrative.

>>> [Reade wrote] Soon I received an offer to work on a Governor’s race in California and I almost accepted. <<<

It would be interesting to learn from any former employers if she was using Biden's office as a reference. Not that they're likely to hold very old personnel records or, if they do, to release them publicly.

"As best as I can tell, the alleged assault occurred either in late May or early June."

But I remember from the New York Times story:

Word. I've posted this link as often as context allows in the WaPo Reade stories and the go-to anti-Biden troll response is "It's a blog, dude." I even had one poster try to tell others not to click because it's a malicious link (that subthread was removed by the mods). I stood up for the Blogger platform, one of the most common on the Internet (text-based blog platforms being infected is ludicrous). One person asked the question about anonymous authors and I defended Internet anonymity in an age of vicious trolls.

But citing primary sources is the best defense. Unless they can somehow be debunked as being fabricated (heh), this thread is bulletproof.

>>> But I remember from the New York Times story: <<<

Perhaps Part 2 of this series will help, but Tara Reade's time line does not strike me as being at all clear -- what happened when, in response to what. So is it that she complained about being asked to serve drinks, resulting in her change of duties? Is it because she made some sort of complaint about harassment to one of the people she has described, even though there is no record and no one has any memory of a complaint? It's difficult to tell, and I'm not sure that it's consistent from one account to the next.

I tend to believe her that she was told that she was not a good fit for her job, and it would follow that somebody who is not a good fit for a position in which she supervised interns would be moved to a position in which she did not. It could be that simple.

>>> Weather data shows below average temperatures I believe for most of that period of time. <<<

Especially in the mornings, when she would have been picking out her clothes for the day and when she supposedly was sent to drop off the gym bag. There's a spreadsheet somebody prepared, linked above, with general weather information for possible dates -- even with a rather generous interpretation of what a warm day in DC is like, there aren't many, and the first few days of June of that year were anything but warm.

Meanwhile, now that somebody has taken note that she was following three Russians, including a Russian propagandist, on Quora, will anybody be asking her about that? A rhetorical question... of course not.

Anonymous said...

Did Reade embezzle from an employer whom she also accused of abusing her in some way? I read a comment On Facebook attributed to Lisa Lilly saying that. Maybe Lilly was referring to the horse rescue?

JasKing said...

Cowalker...

The biggest problem is that Tara Reade has told multiple inconsistent stories since 2009. That said, she has been consistent on her volunteering for the RFK Memorial and that she was looking for another job in June.

It is possible that two separate events are being conflated: 1) no longer supervising interns and 2) being moved to a windowless office and looking for another job.

She says that the initial retaliation began after she refused to serve drinks at a fundraising event. She then says that she complained about Biden touching her and that resulted in more retaliation. She mentions her pushing back on how interns were being chosen. This might possibly explain her removal from supervising interns in April.

The alleged assault then occurs and she complains again and she is moved to the windowless office and told to look for another job.

If the two interns are correct on the April timeframe and Reade is right about looking for a job in June, this is how I reconcile the inconsistenties.

JasKing said...

Aaron Spellman...

Here mentioning why she wasn't wearing pantyhose is very peculiar. Her excuse that it was a hot day is also suspect. You make some valid points about the weather.

JasKing said...

In the Michael Barbaro's The Daily podcast were he interviews Lisa Lerer, Tara Reade gives a different recounting of the alleged assault. Notably, she says that the encounter lasted under two minutes and that it was Biden who pulled back after she didn't kiss him back. That is when he allegedly seemed surprised and said he thought she liked him. This version conflicts with what she told Katie Halper where she says she pulled back and that is when Biden stopped.

In Halper's version is an indication that she was no longer consenting to Biden's advance. In the Lerer version, her only indication of non-consent was turning her head away.

Aaron--incredible reporting, thank you.
I saw somewhere that she had her daughter in Dec 1993 or Jan. 1994. That would mean she was 2-3 months pregnant at the time of the alleged assault. Can you verify her daughter's birthdate? It also is a reason she might leave a job to follow "Tate" to the MidWest.

And I also saw a screenshot of a post on some thread on the Twitter page #tarereadeisafraud from a friend of Reade's, where the friend was speaking directly to Reade and said she was going to expose her as a liar. This friend said Reade told her in 1996 that the man who assaulted her against a wall was Tate, not Biden, and that Reade's mother told her to file a police report about Tate, not Biden. This woman's name was on the screenshot of her post but people were having a hard time locating this friend. I can't find the post with the screenshot with the woman's name now. It is embedded in one of the threads and I've spent a long time trying to find it again to no avail, I'm sorry. I think her name was "Laura" or another L-name. Can you track her down? She would be an incredibly valuable source right now.

Anonymous said...

To Cowalker. Spot on that April 30th was the last possible date. And how fortuitous for Biden that he picked that one day she didn't wear panty hose to assault her (insert huge eye roll here).

Anonymous said...

So many inconsistencies.

It would seem that if a person were assaulted this dramatically that her mind would associate that date with some other event that would be better than a 3 month range.

Also odd about dragging a gym bag to Biden. Biden's office in the Russell Building is on second floor, whereas the gym is on the first floor. Is the building that big, and he is that lazy someone has to run it to him?

Perhaps Munchausen's Syndrome as well, provided she really has scammed all these people.

As a Biden supporter, I do hope to God he gets exonerated, or at least given the benefit of the doubt by the voters. The timing and inconsistencies make this allegation seem questionable to say the least. I don't know what it's like to be sexually victimized in any way, shape, or form, but the last thing in the world that I would do is openly praise my attacker several times for combatting the very thing I'm accusing him of, you know?

I believe it is important to not radically change one's vote on something that is nothing more than speculation; an acceptable risk I'm willing to take if the alternative is 4 more years of Donald Trump.

Ultimately, all I really want out of all this is the truth, no matter what it is. I'm SO SICK of all these lies and disinformation, and not being able to tell whether or not it's legit. I think with Joe Biden we have a much better chance at defeating this evil misinformation disease that this country is dealing with right now, COVID-19 notwithstanding, but of course that is just my opinion.

I find it interesting that Reade, an alleged victim of someone who’s been in incredibly powerful positions, would be willing to be so highly visible to him and his handlers as she has been with her tweets and blogging. When he was in the running for Veep and now, for POTUS, I’d be concerned about being his target since I’d theoretically lose a threat to him, if I’d *truly* been his victim.

After seeing what her fellow Californians Blasey Ford and Emily Doe/Chanel Miller have gone through, you’d think she be better prepared for the onslaught after going public with her allegation. But nope, after months of shopping her dubious allegation around, she finally is in the headlines but has to keep canceling interviews due to supposed security concerns.

After I was assaulted by someone who lives nearby and was locally prominent, I had to undertake constant precautions. Then when he popped up again and ran for office years later, I once again took precautions. But I wasn’t seeking attention, I was seeking justice. I did get some justice and nevertheless had to take precautions.

I understand all victims are different, but I remain highly skeptical of Reade. I even wonder if, besides her dad’s book, if she was influence by the Brock Turner-Emily Doe/Chanel Miller case. The court transcripts have been public for years.

>>> He said, she said...Why did the cable news procrastinate over the reporting and only waited until after Sanders was defeated before raising the issue? <<<

You need to educate yourself. Reade pitched the story to numerous media figures and outlets. There's an extensive story put out by a major news outlet about why they didn't find her claims to them to be sufficiently credible to publish, based upon their inability to verify what she was saying, an account that brings forward any number of inconstencies even between what she was saying then vs. now. (But whatever she says, no matter how inconsistent, it's all true, right?)

Reade chose to time the release of her story with Ryan Grim -- she even tweeted about it. If her delay resulted in inconvenience to Bernie, given that Grim, Halper and Robinson are Bernie dead-enders, if you want to find fault with the timing of the story, with its breaking too late, you need to be looking at them.

In any event, Bernie knew about the allegations when he suspended his campaign -- Briahna Joy Gray was tweeting about them. He knew about the allegations when he endorsed Biden. He knows about the allegations now -- yet has not reactivated his campaign nor has he withdrawn his endorsement of Biden. Nobody is responsible for Bernie's choices but Bernie.

Her daughter's age rules out the possibility that Reade was pregnant at that time.

It is worth noting that no one who worked with Tara Reade has confirmed any of what she said. Only friends and family members are confirming “parts” of what she said and their recollections evolved along with hers. This evolution of narratives is always problematic and suspect.

That said, I believe that there was what Reade perceived as “retaliation”. There is no evidence that anyone has provided that indicates that Joe Biden was involved and somehow directing it. As such, there is no evidence that Joe Biden was “sexually harassing” Tara Reade. The evidence suggests that the staffers were responding to her complaints of unwanted touching and to whatever problems they had with Tara Reade as an employee.

I do believe that the encounter took place in the basement. It was a sexual advance by Biden. He mistook signals from Reade that she was interested in such an encounter. She indicates this when she said that she was told by staffers to change the way she dressed. It was drawing unwanted attention (as she, herself, complained about the unwanted touching).

There is no evidence that she communicated either verbally or non-verbally that she was non-consenting during most of the basement encounter which according to her lasted “under two minutes”. That is a long time to allow non-consensual touching to go on. Once Biden was aware that she was non-consenting, he stopped. Whether Biden pulled back or she pulled back, that is when non-consent was indicated and Biden's sexual advanced stopped. I do not believe that she is being 100% candid with what she said in response to what she alleges Biden said to her.

There is evidence that she has weaponized this rebuffed sexual advance and that her coming forward was politically calculated. The evidence comes from her deleted tweets. I believe that she was hoping that her unsubstantiated charge of sexual harassment was enough to politically damage Biden. When it wasn't enough, she switched to Plan B and that was to characterize a rebuffed sexual advance as a sexual assault. And here we are.

Aaron, I found the name of Reade's friend who is threatening to expose her lies about the assault. Her name is "Lucy Moore", and it was a twitter post on April 29. But people have tried to find her and can't. I found a copy of Lucy's post on the page #tarareadsisaliar. It was posted by "Dr. Magus" @ubervaper at 2:37 pm on May 6. I think this link will get you there: https://mobile.twitter.com/ubervaper/status/1258103666885758982

Can you try to find Lucy Moore?

Thank you for such great work. --Rachel

I just read the Intercept version and it has details that are not mentioned in the other articles:

“ Before she knew it, he pressed her up against the wall, forcibly kissed her, and put a hand each up her blouse and skirt, penetrating her with his fingers. She had what she recalls now as an “absurd” thought. “I remember thinking, where’s the gym bag? Because he had taken it in his hand, but all of a sudden it wasn’t in his hands and his hands were where they weren’t supposed to be,” she said.

Reade said that her impression was that Biden believed he had consent, and was surprised at the rejection, but that she had done nothing to give him that impression. “There was no flirtation, he had no consent. He was by my ears when he said, ‘Do you wanna go somewhere else?’” She pushed him off and he stepped back, looking surprised, she recalled, and flashing a huge smile.
“‘Come on, man,’” she said he told her. “‘I heard you liked me.’”

So, in this version, she acknowledges that Biden thought he had consent. This is key. She did nothing to communicate that he did not have her consent until she pulled away. When she made it clear that he did not have her consent, he stopped and then left.

This is not a sexual assault. If Biden continued groping her after it was clear that she was no longer consenting, then that would have been a sexual assault. This was a rebuffed sexual advance. The people with political agendas are elevating this to a sexual assault.

>>> Of course Borderline Personality is also possible. <<<

I think if Tara were HPD she'd be a more overtly sexual person. Maybe Bob Packwod's office? But Capitol Hill, especially in an office full of feminists working on the Violence Against Women Act, to heal the black eye Joe got for running the Thomas / Hill hearings, is not really the place for a femme fatale. If she was a classic histrionic flirt, I think she would've been bounced much earlier if hired at all (feminists can smell that a mile off). But I have no background and this is just speculation.

BPDs can be sexually obsessed to be sure, but they tend to focus it on (often destructive / dysfunctional) personal relationships. Their main concern is with affirmation. From her own writings it appears she was damaged in some way by her father, maybe (likely) sexually abused, and the rest of her documented fact pattern seems to reflect a slow-burn revenge against him through other men. That would fit BPD.

I'm struck by the radical change in her political ideology. To work in Biden's office, to support him over the decades, to have a JD and be politically sophisticated, reflects not only a comfort, but a strong support of the political establishment. To turn on a dime in her Medium writings into a Blame Amerca First Berner with a radical critique of American foreign policy is very difficult to square. And Marianne Williamson? As a New Ager who seems to believe that all politics can be remediated through personal relationships, that doesn't square with her past support of Biden, either, but it's perfectly compatible with BPD.

It's one thing to write about Putin as a figure to be reckoned with, to counter the reflexive cold war-ish Western animosity, but to hook slide into sexually tinged hero worship? This is idealization side of BPD's most characteristic trait, idealization / devaluation. Biden may be the devaluation side.

My go-to theory is that when the group of women who all came out a year ago against Joe's hair sniffing and shoulder rubbing (but nothing like sexual assault) didn't ring the affirmation bells she was looking for, she moved into an entirely different political milieu and to get crediblity there, aped their anti-Joe political ideology. Then right at the moment when Bernie had a head of steam, she contacted the lefty outlets (the Intercept, Halper) who would be most receptive to a narrative that would knock Bernie out, giving her, at long last, the affirmation she craved.

That's my theory for why I think she's classic BPD.

Me and everybody can praise these details but it is not in MAJOR NEWS. They are slaughtering Joe Biden. All the media, every newspaper and every network and cable news. Politico just came out with an article.
Left bucks Biden over Reade allegations

Despite Biden’s vehement denials, some progressive candidates — mostly millennials — are siding with his accuser
https://www.politico.com/news/2020/05/06/biden-reade-allegations-241451

So what good does this blog do? I have posted it everywhere I can think of. But most will not even read anything at all let alone at this length. We are talking about these same Sanders supporters who are just like Trump supporters attached to their phones defiant of researching truth. Now these sanders supporters want new NY Primary.

So as we sit here knowing Tara Reade is a liar she is accomplishing what she set out to do. Sanders along with trump is loving all this.

Part 2,3,4,5 or 10. I personally am infuriated. Yes this is a great researched piece. And the WP.... all the news media is making $$$ off the continuation of the Joe Biden slaughter. We are here but outside of here, where is this story also placed?

Nowhere.

I am sickened. Joe Biden didn't do a thing to this creature and she is getting away with all of this.

Reade claimed to Lisa Lerer that she left work after the alleged incident and called in sick for a period of time afterward ("So she tells me eventually she does go back to work"). A Senate FOIA request could take many months, there may be issues with its being a personnel record, and I don't know if payroll records from that era would be available, but that does seem like a detail that should have been reflected in payroll records -- paysheets and the tracking of employees' available sick leave or PTO.

There is one comment from a "Lucy Moore" which was added on April 29, although the article was uploaded on January 9. Moore says she knows Reade is lying and can prove it. But if Moore doesn't step forward and support her claim, this could as easily be a fake threat as a real one.

any date set yet for part two?

Wow... The anonymous "friend" who supposedly received a contemporaneous report of Reade's sexual assault allegation spoke with Laura McGann back when Reade's allegation was only of non-sexual touching of her neck and shoulders, and spontaneously volunteered that "[Biden] never tried to kiss her directly. He never went for one of those touches." So of the three people Reade supposedly told about a sexual assault, two have dramatically changed their stories from the early telling (the anonymous friend and her brother), and the third was not named by Reade even though she had recently been in contact with her -- Reade's excuse being "she’d talked to her two years after the alleged incident" -- but as I recall Reade named other people as corroborative who were told about alleged sexual harassment years before.

https://www.vox.com/2020/5/7/21248713/tara-reade-joe-biden-sexual-assault-accusation

And that friend, supposedly told years later about the incident, isn't sure whether the story she heard from a neighbor she knew well enough to have that discussion is more credible than Biden's denial.

The anonymous friend's excuse for volunteering a very different story is "It just organically rolled out that way". Her claim is that Reade at the time didn't want to tell the whole story, a claim that belies Reade's assertion that she held back details because of a reaction to the story she told -- but even if that were the case, the idea that an unnecessary lie would have just "rolled out" of her mouth is pretty astonishing. It would make sense if it were the truth, but it makes no sense to volunteer a lie that will make both Reade and her 'friend' seem a heck of a lot less credible when asked why pretty much everybody backing Reade's accusation seems to change the story with each telling.

Thank you to everyone once again for the input. The next post will be out Sunday. I am glad we waited because now there is much more information to post. Part II will come out then III.

Agree with Sallymia. That’s why Part 2 of this report is so important. Most journalists/media outlets are not taking the time to research Reade’s past, motivations & inconsistencies.

When will Report 2 be released?

Anonymous said...

Reade has 'hired' a Trump-affiliated law firm to represent her, even though she has no legal proceedings going on and no money. It's perfectly reasonable for her to hire a lawyer to advise her as to how to avoid getting sued, and to help her practice her story before she goes on camera, but.... This firm isn't going to recover attorney fees through a lawsuit. Is it working for free, because it wants to help Trump, or is it getting paid by somebody else?

Not-so-tough questions that one can count on the media to not direct to Reade.

Anonymous said...

I will all-but-guarantee you that the delay before agreeing to a new interview involved a negotiation between Reade's lawyers and the network about what could and could not be asked during the interview, and perhaps also how certain questions would be phrased and what follow-up would be allowed.

I don't know the network's policies, but it could be that Reade was given copies of all questions in advance so that she could practice her answers and face no surprises.

>>> I am sickened. Joe Biden didn't do a thing to this creature and she is getting away with all of this. <<<

I'm not worried about this for several reasons. Mainly, because "Reade"'s story has no legs. She has no genuine independent corroboration, just hearsay from friends and family. She bailed on Chris Wallace (citing "security" and "I don't wanna be like Anita Hill" -- both of which are laughable). There was a WaPo op-ed on Tuesday begging for a new nominee to avoid the charge of "hypocrisy," but that was more dead-end lefty than outraged feminist. Nobody in the comment section supporting "Reade" appears to be genuine, only Bernie and/or Trump trolls. The vast majority of commenters are as skeptical of "Reade" as we are.

Another reason is that #MeToo was chastened by the Al Franken overreaction. "Believe the woman" was always a too-easy bumper sticker (which appalled civil libertarians), but when Kirsten Gillibrand, Franken's loudest Senate executioner, hesitates not for a second believing Joe, that's a sea change in the movement.

>>> This is not a sexual assault. If Biden continued groping her after it was clear that she was no longer consenting, then that would have been a sexual assault. This was a rebuffed sexual advance. The people with political agendas are elevating this to a sexual assault. <<<

I have a couple issues with this. First, if it were facially true, it would be terrible and possibly even disqualifying. Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky were entirely consensual, but it still sickened the country. We rightly don't like the idea of powerful politicians catting around with and making passes at staffers. And physically hitting on a staffer in the Senate basement? That's unutterably gross and impossible to justify in itself.

But I don't think it's true; I think it's more reasonable to believe the story was entirely fabricated. All the #MeToo perps have demonstrated a fact pattern. All have had many more than one victim. Amtrak Joe, with his years in the Senate, would have to have had a habit of this sort of behavior, and if he did, it's impossible to believe he could have kept it a secret. The women (mostly millennial and younger) who don't accept Joe's old-school idea of personal space all have said that his creepily avuncular touchy-sniffy stuff is nothing like sexual assault.

"Reade" is the sole exception. Why? She's not a cutthroat political assassin; she doesn't object all that much to Joe politically, anyway. She's a small-time grifter who appears content with the mid-level attention she's received from Bernieville, which has plenty of marks to monetize with yet another Martyr to the Truth act.

As I say, pretty classic BPD.

I love what Aaron and the team are doing because I loathe scammers and character assassins and the truth needs to come out, simply as a matter of principle. But from a larger perspective, what's more important than who's covering this is who's *not* covering it. The best thing for Joe is for the larger and more respected outlets to simply starve "Reade" of oxygen, which appears to be happening. The best antidote to gaslighting is to ignore it.

FOX is running with it. Who cares? The niche Berniecrat media is running with it. Likewise. The gaslighting about Kavanaugh and hypocrisy is risible, but let me deconstruct it for a sec:

Christine Blasey Ford is a substantial person with a solid academic career as a research psychologist and plenty of character references in her field. She had a story that was, in the very terms of these sort of events, hard to immediately corroborate (hence "believe the woman" and not dismiss it out of hand). But she could have, had the Senate called Mark Judge to testify under oath. He was at the party and Kavanaugh's alleged accomplice.

Brett Kavanaugh had a fact pattern, established by the very same Mark Judge in his memoir of being a young blackout drunk in Brett's social circle. This, in itself, made CBF's story credible at face. You can argue in good faith for a mercy rule that would render Kavanaugh's drunken young life off limits or far less relevant than his conduct in adulthood. But what you can't do is dismiss this behavior without a full accounting of CBF's harrowing tale of sexual assault, something which a partisan Senate rendered impossible by prematurely shutting down the FBI investigation.

This is nothing like "Tara Reade" and Joe Biden. Tara Reade's references are sketchy and Joe Biden has no fact pattern to establish reasonable suspicion of sexual assault.

To try to equate the two is pure gaslighing and, once easily rebutted, summarily dismissed and ignored.

>>> I do believe that the encounter took place in the basement. It was a sexual advance by Biden. <<<

That would be more compelling if (a) it made sense for them to be meeting in the basement, (b) if Reade could identify the location in the basement when this happened, and (c) if there were a location in the basement where this could have happened, but where they could not have been interrupted at any time by somebody passing by. Also (d) how did Biden get Reade to this unidentified private location without her consent? And (e) while there are many people who I might believe would come on to a woman that aggressively, despite being married and despite the high chance of being discovered, I would not expect there to be no other known examples of similar conduct and for every person they know except for the accuser to be describing it as out-of-character. Even as only an aggressive pass.

This is the problem with Reade's brand of accusation, it creates a cloud of doubt followed by the expectation by many that the accused person can do the impossible and prove that nothing happened.

He was a good senator and family man. Now Kirsten Gillibrand and others rightly look like hypocrites. Gillibrand supports Joe Biden but led the charge to oust Franken. Al Franken asked for an investigation and was not given one. The democrats lined up against him and forced him to resign. I hope this does not damage Joe Biden. I believe him over her. Yes please investigate this and all claims of sexual assault. But do not automatically believe the woman before it is investigated.

Maybe this has been mentioned, but Reade's current lawyer gave at least $55,000 to the Trump campaign.

Are there any exceptions to this pattern for Reade:

Stuff that cannot be verified becomes increasingly specific and non-verifiable claims become lurid (albeit at times in contradiction to each other).

Stuff that can be verified becomes increasingly nebulous and non-specific, with very detailed claims becoming more vague and less specific as the prior claim is found to be unreliable.

I think that this is important, because if it is the consistent pattern then it's not the pattern of memory problems caused by time or trauma. It's a pattern of becoming vague when caught in a lie and becoming more confident about lying when claims cannot be disproved.

I've been thoroughly disgusted about all of this since it reared its ugly head in March. The basic inconsistency in Reade's story is this: It doesn't fit anything we know about Biden.

Biden has been in the public for almost 50 years. (I'm 68. I've followed his career from the beginning.) He's probably met tens of thousands of women in those 50 years as staffers, interns, at meet and greats, events, fundraisers. The only thing that has come out about him is about 8 women (out of thousands) who complained that he got too close to them and made them feel "uncomfortable"... and a few videos, some manipulated, that seem to show him "too close". Funny that none of this was a concern when he was vetted to be Obama's running mate in '08.

Now in 1993 he was a popular handsome long-time Senator with a wonderful family, married to Jill for 16 yrs, with 2 young adult sons and a 12 year old daughter. Sexual abuse by public figures was high on the public's radar due to the Packwood allegations, not to mention the Clarence Thomas hearings.

There is NO history or allegation of Biden accosting or harassing women OR having affairs or flings. That he would attempt something ONE TIME in 47 years with a staffer he barely knew, jeopardizing his career, his marriage, his family, his political ambitions, just does not fit.

Some here have suggested the possibility that Biden attempted something but it was consensual. For the reasons listed above, no, Biden did NOT attempt anything "consensual" with Reade.

So.. as I was making lunch, something came to me which, unfortunately, can't be verified. It's just speculation for those who, like me, are still trying to put all of this together.

My husband is a psychiatric nurse, now retired.

I was able to find this after much searching finally-This women should be found-Lucy Moore-Serious question Tara: Do you want me, your old confidant coming out and telling all your real truths? I’m about to.
Remember that time in 1996 when I helped take you to a woman’s shelter because your husband TATE ‘pushed you against a wall and physically assaulted you. I do Tara. And then your mom told you to file a police report against TATE. And now look at you, pinning on Joe Biden the crimes Tate is guilty of. You poor miserable, sole-less human.
Oh & you were not fired. You left DC because your then boyfriend TATE got a job in the midwest and you begged to move with him. I have proof Tara. And you told your immediate boss that you would not serve drinks. https://medium.com/@lucymoore_28804/serious-question-tara-do-you-want-me-your-old-confidant-coming-out-and-telling-all-your-real-fc9a51b4ebd3

The bill she had sent to Pregnant Mare Rescue wasn't even an unexpected bill--those are nearly all annual maintenance things for horses. It's an expense that can be counted on, yearly, as a horse owner, and should be planned for, not emergency fundraised/scammed from a nonprofit. The outliers are the coggins and the interstate travel cert, the latter of which is only good for thirty days. Could it be that she planned to move before the bill arrived?

Continuing my first comment..

I started by writing about Biden's reputation and his situation in 1993.

Now this is the speculative part:

Tara Reade came to DC to start a career, possibly with hopes of meeting a mate. She was excited to be working for a well-known popular liberal Senator.

OK, my husband is a psychiatric nurse, now retired. When I first talked to him about Reade, he said, "She may well be BPD." Of course, he can't diagnose her, but to him, her behaviors fit the mold.

People with Borderline Personality Disorder see themselves as victims; they are often angry; they often feel they have been cheated. They can also lie repeatedly; they have no qualms about making things up to get their way or to get revenge. They can also be flirtatious, sexual, and pushy. They alternately idolize and hate people, particularly people they are close to or want to be close to.

Now histrionics, those with HPD, tend to be very dramatic, they seek the spotlight and they are often flirtatious, pushy, and sexual. There is a tremendous overlap between BPD and HPD.

The speculation is whether or not Biden harassed Reade, but nobody has considered the opposite: Is it possible that READE chased after Biden or made a pass at him? HPD/BDP women often have no scruples about going after men, especially successful men, nor do they care about breaking up marriages. She was a low level staffer; she probably wouldn't have had frequent day-to-day interactions with him. Perhaps she, in the idolatry stage, engineered meetings with him or volunteered for errands that put her in contact with him. Perhaps her flirtation was too much and she was pushed out because of it. Perhaps she was the one who said to him: “I thought you liked me,” when he rejected her and not the other way around. We have no way of knowing, and Biden's staff may not even know or remember because it was so long ago and it didn’t seem like a big thing. I would imagine that many junior staffers came and went for various reasons. It’s also possible that Reade doesn’t remember what really happened other than she felt hurt and abandoned by this Senator she had initially idolized and his staff.

Now how does this fit in with the whole MeToo movement? I’ve had many discussions with women friends and men over the past year or two. We can’t and we shouldn’t “believe all women.” We shouldn’t believe all men either. People lie, people don’t remember things as they happened, and that includes sexual things. And women can and DO chase after men and then lie or, worse, make up stories to get revenge. We have no way of knowing what really happened.

Something probably DID happen while she worked in Biden's office, but it may just have been bitter disappointment.

@Middle Molly, I actually thought about the EXACT SAME THING being possible! Maybe she was in love with him and thus was thrilled to be working for him (as she has said before), but he didn't love her back and wouldn't leave his wife and family so naturally she'd be heartbroken. It could be one of those obsessive types of love where they'll do anything and everything for positive OR negative attention from him. She could very well be punishing him for rejecting her. Also, the part where she praises him for being a women's rights advocate could be another symptom of such an obsession. Just a thought, of course.

To Middle Molly - I’ve too have been wondering if she pursued him or was in some way inappropriate.

I used to work for someone who was famous and was idolized. He was also nice and approachable. At a company event a much older, drunken female employee grabbed him and started kissing him and trying to climb on top of him. I also saw him escort another female employee to the office door, while touching her shoulder lightly. Months after she was fired she filed a complaint against him. Thankfully, since I was a witness the complaint didn’t go far. Ironically I was a victim advocate at the time for a rape crisis center. I got to witness one of those rare false reports I’d heard about!

I had another boss years later who was rightfully concerned about the behavior of a female staffer. He shut it down quickly, and it was the smart thing to do.

Totally looking forward to Part 2, especially since TR’s bank fraud charges right before she left the senate are the talk of Twitter. I’m curious of course about why her pay was docked, also.

>>> Are you in such a state of denial that you have never read of his mis-rememberings. His false claims about being in the top half of his college exams... <<<

I will have to excuse you for not understanding what the word "relevant" means. If you are actually trying to make the case that if one has ever lied, even on something unrelated to the subject under discussion, one must be presumed to be lying about the subject under discussion... well, your approach is far more damning of Reade than anything posted on this blog.

Seriously, if you don't understand simple concepts like "relevant" it would be a good idea for you to look them up so you can avoid again embarrassing yourself like that.

>>> "Reade" is the sole exception. Why? <<<

I am not in a position to psychoanalyze her, but it's fair to observe that once she moved from her initial story of "He touched me non-sexually and I didn't appreciate it", she has told a story that is isolated from anything anybody else is saying about Biden.

How many people other than her are suggesting that Biden's office was at all unfriendly or hostile to female employees. Zero, right?

How many people she has claimed to have reported any complaint about Biden or his office recall receiving her report, or any of a similar nature. Zero, right?

How many of her co-workers have come forward to say, "Yeah, I remember working with Reade, and I can understand why she had that impression of Biden's office", or "I had a similar impression". Again, zero, right?

How many people who she supposedly told about the alleged incident at the time, in their first interviews in which they were asked to corroborate her story, described anything that even slightly resembled a sexual assault. Surprise! Again, zero.

I've felt for awhile now, that there was indeed an "incident" between Reade and Biden at roughly the time she says, but that she hasn't been honest about what really happened, and that she was either fabricating details and/or omitting details of what REALLY happened.

I think you may "be onto something", with your line of thoughts. It hadn't yet occurred to me, that SHE might have been the instigator, making "a move" on Biden, rather than the way she portrays it. And of course, she would have been deflated and humiliated if he had not reciprocated. Hmmm...

There was just an allegation in the comments section of the Washington Post that she was arrested for check fraud while she was working in Biden's office and that is why she was dismissed. Yes. I'd say that the difference between HPD and BPD is that HPDs are more publicly / performatively sexual and BPDs tend to focus their sexual obsessions, including idealization / devaluation, on one-on-one relationships, which tend to be disastrous. I also think there's a stronger overlap between BPDs and N (narcissistic) PDs in that both can be high-functioning, socially adjusted and charming people who can hide their disorders, at least when making initial impressions. The difference is that NPDs have massive ego defenses whereas BPDs can collapse into toxic shame and self-hatred; 10% of diagnosed BPDs commit suicide. It'd be interesting to find out more about Ms. Moulton's life and whether she's had incidents of substance abuse and/or attempts self-harm. It's very difficult for me to imagine, though, a full-blown HPD in an office full of feminists working on the Violence Against Women Act. But I am no expert, either.

As for a hit on Joe gone wrong? Possible, of course, but I'm content to remain agnostic on something that can never be proved either way. I tend to think the broad outline is classic BPD revenge on a man she once idolized (look out, Vladimir Putin, LOL). But my go-to theory is more instrumental than psychiatric.

As this blog has so amply and carefully documented, "Reade" is serial small-time grifter, and small-time grifters tend to burn through their marks quickly. She had an opportunity to revisit Biden after all those decades of supporting him politically when she came out with a dozen or so women a year ago to decry Joe's touchy-sniffiness. The most telling evidence that her assault claim was a story she may have told various friends over the years (perhaps to deflect from her conflicted relationship with "Tate"?) but not true about Biden is that, at precisely the moment where a sexual assault charge would have maximum reach and credibility, she chose to go along with all those other women and say these unwanted personal space violations were nothing at all like sexual assault. Why? There's no reasonable explanation for this.

My hunch is that she thought this alone would be enough to fire up a revenue stream in solidarity with the other "victims" of Joe's handsiness. But the story died; American women decided en masse to forgive Joe when he apologized for it and vowed to change his well-intentioned old-school backslapping pol behavior. Thus no outrage for "Reade" to monetize. But she needed a new revenue stream ...

Thus the "Tate" story (which may also be a slander on "Tate;" we'll see if he decides to speak out) which appears cribbed from her dad's sleazy memoir / novel becomes repurposed in an age of MeToo overreaction.

Or so she counted on ...

While we're all waiting on tenterhooks for tomorrow to roll around with the Part 2 Biden installment, the discussion among some commenters has broadened out to #MeToo and the political machinations that may lurk behind Alexandra Tara Rebecca Reade Moulton McCabe's provocative charge. I have "Reade's" WaPo op-ed loaded in my tabs and I look forward to reading it and disemboweling it in the comments.

Here's my helicopter money 2¢:

I fully support #MeToo. I see zero contradiction in taking women's accounts of sexual assault seriously while sniffing out scam artists and bad-faith accusations. Social movements always move in a dialectic, overreact and ultimately find a balance. We don't discount the civil rights movement for the Black Panthers and the Black Liberation Army and we don't discount the anti-Vietnam war movement for the Symbionese Liberation Army and the Weather Underground. "Believe the woman" is a necessary course correction for a culture that tends to normalize sexual assault by powerful men. But "believe the woman" was never meant as a dogma. Emmett Till's community "believed the woman" when a Southern belle pointed at this black man and he was lynched with unspeakable brutality. No feminist would ever support going back to that world.

People like to snicker at Kirsten Gillibrand for being a hypocrite, but I applaud her. She's the ultimate finger-in-the-wind politician and if she can do a 180 and believe Joe after chasing Al Franken from the Senate, this means that #MeToo is beginning to find the right balance. Kirsten's just a trailing-edge indicator.

Of course "Reade"'s lawyer gave beaucoup bux to Trump -- Bernie knows Joe well, likes him personally and doesn't want to touch this stuff; the Berners who are pushing it are just doing the standard-issue Anybody But The Presumptive Nominee Hail Mary. I'm annoyed by their disingenuousness because hardcore leftists have never liked feminists; they think feminism is a bourgeois distraction from the class struggle. The Berners who wanna GoFundMe Ms. Moulton are penny ante compared to the outrage monetizing virtuosos of TrumpCo. The more connections to TrumpCo, the less credible "Reade" looks.

As I've said in other posts, NPD and BPD are the conjoined twins of personality disorders. My strong prediction is that Tara's narcissistic Trumpiness will prove her undoing. Like the NPD Trump, Tara believes her own bull pucky and kind of scoffs at the very notion of credible corroboration. Her own force of personality should be enough to get what she wants, which is more a revenue stream from outrage groupies than it is an actual political hit job. A parasite's intent is never to destroy its host. Biden in office would be a gold mine. This might work at the political fringes, but America is so fed up with this kind of narcissism and personality politics that I do believe that Alexandra Tara Rebecca Reade Moulton McCabe is in for the rudest of awakenings -- the worst thing that can happen to any narcissist, which is to be ignored.

I like to speculate, but I strongly dislike conspiracy theories; I try to label my speculations as such and have them stand or fall on the merits of the argument. I don't think the major outlets will run with this story just because salacious allegations generate clicks 'n' eyeballs; in my view the MSM has been pretty judicious in thoroughly investigating Ms. Moulton's story and explaining why it doesn't deserve more oxygen. The people running with it are more at the fringes of the discourse (left and right) and so rebutting the allegations at a molecular level falls to intrepid bloggers with irrefutable primary sources in tow like Aaron, Hedgehog & Co.

Godspeed to them all.

@Middle Molly. People lie no matter what their gender. #MeToo should be an instrument of hope not politicization. Yes a balance must be struck that brings justice to both the accused and the accuser. It is what our Constitution demands.

Aaron Spellman said...

Good Evening Kathy. Yes it is true that Ms. Reade was arrested for check fraud while still considered employed by then Senator Biden. She states that she left before August, her attorney Mr. Wigdor states July but her employment record shows August 6,1993 as the date her employment ended. The check infraction was charged on August 2, 1993.

Anonymous said...

While it is perhaps no surprise that Reade seemingly claims as many different last days of work as she has given reasons for leaving, at many workplaces you can have a last day defined by the payout of any earned time off, even though your last day of work may have been earlier, and in some cases an employer might release an employee from further duties before a notice period ends. In one of Reade's stories, as I recall, she negotiated her departure with one of her supervisors -- if that's the case there may have been an agreement (or edict), "You stop working now, but we'll pay you through [agreed date]."

It should be possible to find Senate policies for employee departure at that time, to see if there might be an explanation that would explain why she claimed that she stopped work at a date prior to her last official date -- in addition to the possibility that she's not telling the truth.

The file from her criminal case is probably no longer available, given the passage of time, but she must have been quite the paper hanger to get charged back home while working in D.C. -- it would be interesting to learn if the charge was initiated by people who had received bad checks, or if it was initiated by the bank due to the continued issuance of checks on an account that they had closed due to prior bad checks.

Anonymous said...

Reade's mental state, however explained to others, could also be explained by here knowing that she was the subject of a criminal investigation and likely to face charges. "I'm having trouble at the office" comes across a lot better to friends and family than "I got caught passing a lot of bad checks and have to go back to California for my criminal case."

>>> Are you in such a state of denial that you have never read of his mis-rememberings. His false claims about being in the top half of his college exams... <<

So having a history of "misremembering" is irrelevant to his denial of an event he says didn't take place. Yet, being found out that he claims events that were proven did not happen is irrelevant. How convenient it is that it is you who decides what is relevant. I tried to show that his "misremembering" was not merely political but very personal.

If Reade is unreliable due to a flawed memory, surely Biden can equally be seen as unreliable when his own memory is called into question.

Your other complaint earlier was when I said the media procrastinated in reporting the assault. Biden conducted 10 interviews with cable tv and not once was he asked about it. Eventually the media was shamed into asking him, but not before he was given notice so he could issue a written personal statement and time to rehearse his replies to Mika's soft-ball questions. Having previously reached out to the MSM and been rebuffed, her only outlet fringe media, is it no wonder she rejected their agenda of quizzing her and I am sure it would be much more rigorous than MSNBC's interrogation of Biden and she chose a person Meghan Kelly who herself had been subjected to sexual harassment by an employer.

"I am not in a position to psychoanalyze her"

Correct but it doesn't stop you, does it?

Observations on MK Interview

There were three new and important details that came out during Megyn Kelly's interview. One was the vulgarity allegedly said by Biden. That detail was not mentioned in any of the interviews and articles. One would have thought that Biden uttering such vulgarity would not be forgotten. That addition is questionable.

Another important detail is that MK was very specific when asking how Biden was able to penetrate Reade through her panties. Tara Reade said that she was wearing “lingerie” that allowed Biden to easily insert his finger(s) into her. The insinuation was that the panties were “crotchless”. Reade later confirms this by saying that she was embarrassed to mention the lingerie to her mother.

This opens a whole can of worms. First, Reade said that she was wearing the “lingerie” because she was going to meet her boyfriend later that day/evening. That conflicts with her earlier reason for not wearing pantyhose. She volunteered the information about not wearing pantyhose and that always struck me as peculiar, to say the least. She said it was because it was “hot” that day.

So, you put on crotchless panties in the morning because you're going to meet up with your boyfriend later on? On a hot, sweaty day? And how lucky for Biden that Reade was wearing such lingerie on the day that he uncharacteristically “assaults” her with his finger(s). Because if she was wearing either pantyhose or a regular pair of panties her allegation does not hold up to scrutiny.

And something else that is suspect. She alternately (depending on the interview) mentions going into a bathroom to “clean up”. Clean up what? In the MK Interview, she mentions going home and showering to wash off the... she starts to say smell but then stops. What “smell”?

She never mentions speaking to her boyfriend about the “assault” that just occurred. She called her mother. She spoke to her friend. But she says nothing about her boyfriend whom she was supposed to meet up with (wearing crotchless panties, no less) later that day/evening. Did Reade tell her boyfriend about the assault? If not, why not? She told him about the harassment. There is something fishy here (no pun intended).

Another detail that Reade amended is that this “assault” took place in under 3 minutes. In NYT Daily podcast interview, she said the alleged assault occurred in under two minutes. Get out your watch and time out two minutes. That is a long time to allow someone to kiss and grope you without you saying “no”, “stop” or pushing him away. Now we are to believe that this alleged assault occurred in under 3 minutes before Reade pulled away.

I am still processing the rest of MK’s interview.

I can do "Tara Reade" vs Christine Blasey Ford all day long, bro.

CBF endured the hottest of hot lights and the story of her assault never changed. She was completely transparent about her life and her background; no blogs required to suss out the hincky parts. While some aspects around the edges were inconsistent (she claimed to be afraid of flying but friends said she flew; the motives of her house renovation were called into question) and she's certainly as privileged as Kavanaugh, whether or not she's neurotic, or whether that neurosis came from PTSS from the assault or is part of her character, is immaterial to the assault allegation. She had an eyewitness -- an accomplice -- to the assault (Mark Judge) who conveniently developed amnesia and the Senate refused to subpoena testimony.

"Tara Reade" has been sniping from the shadows, desperate for attention. Her story is laughably inconsistent, including this week's admission that she never filed a complaint in Biden's office for sexual harassment, let alone sexual assault. She has nothing like an eyewitness or a contemporaneous corroborator, so her years-after-the-fact corroborators amount to nothing more than hearsay from friends and family.

As for "Bart O'Kavanaugh"'s fact pattern (we get that nick from Judge), with all due respect, being a blackout drunk in prep school is in itself licence to believe just about anything about them at that time in their life. Car thief? Crackhead? Setting a homeless guy on fire with lighter fluid? Sure, why not. Less facetiously, while being a blackout drunk isn't a fact pattern of sexual assault per se, it is a fact pattern of reprobate behavior.

The 75 women who signed that letter worked for him as an adult; that's not dispositive of his behavior as a privileged drunken prep school brat. There were other accusers aside from CBF, too; the only one with marginal credibility Michael Avenotti used to try to steal the show. That was an unmitigated disaster and provided the ammo the GOP needed to quash the FBI investigation. We know where Avenotti is now.

And as for his Georgetown Prep acquaintances closing ranks? I know a little about the prep school mafia mentality. I grew up in an upper-middle-class East Coast suburb which I won't reveal to preserve my anonymity, but some of you sleuths could figure it out when I mention a lurid tale from the 80s of the high school football team in a basement with a developmentally disabled girl, raping her with a broomstick handle. The trial and appeals lasted 10 years. That's how good wealthy communities are at closing ranks around indefensible sexual behavior. This is precisely why #MeToo emerged as a social movement.

"Tara Reade" is exploiting it to grift.
